Farmington Public Library Facts

Founded:
In 1799 a small group of residents organized a Social Library which circulated books until disbanding in 1856. Following a few unsuccessful efforts at forming a library, in 1890 the current Farmington Public Library Association was incorporated and continues to serve the community and the region.

Collections:
The Library's collection of 30,000 items focuses on popular reading for adults-fiction and non-fiction as well as Large Print Books, magazines, and audiobooks. The children's collection serves elementary and middle grade students (grades K-7) and we also have a strong collection of items geared to young children and beginning readers (ages 6 months - 5 years). In addition to books, we have audio-visual materials, audiobooks, videotapes, and magazines available for our younger patrons.

We also have a notable collection of Maine authors, local and town history, and a genealogy reference library.

Library Hours:
Tuesday through Friday 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM
Saturday 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM (10:00 AM to 12:00 PM July - August)
